
Julia Boyd is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker.
She currently works at The Ranch Productions as an Associate Producer of feature films, including Family Movie and Stages which just premiered at SXSW 2026. Previously, Julia worked at Vice Studios, where she Associate Produced Crusaders and ESPN 30 for 30 The American Gladiators Documentary, as well as Refinery29 where she produced and directed the Streamy and GLAAD Award-nominated digital docuseries State of Grace.
Julia's short documentary debut "Dual Wielder" will have a festival premiere Summer 2026, soon to be announced. She received a grant from her alma mater Elon University to direct her magical realist short narrative film, going into production Spring 2026. She also directed a forthcoming pilot, "Jess is Afraid," with collaborators Jessica Uhler and Sophie Delaney coming Spring 2026.
Julia began her career on the video team at Big Machine Label Group in Nashville, and as an Atlanta native, she enjoys returning to the Southeast for work when possible.
She is also a UCB-trained improviser and comedian, playing shows around LA with her team, Safety Hat. Julia has independently crafted 3 digital series since 2015: Lightweights, The Blow Up Couch Show, and Vanity Fair July 2003.
Other interests include early 2000s pop culture, taste-testing croissants, and making an iced coffee last for 5 hours
